Updating the printer's firmware v3.1 Mj 30.11.2018
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IMPORTANT!
Updating the firmware overwrites the menu-settings with default values. Print
the menu-settings (menu printout) before updating the firmware so you can
easily set up the printer after the updating-procedure.

a) Local printer parallel printer
----------------=========--------
To update a locally connected printer, the firmware has to be copied to the
appropriate port:

- Put the printer into 'boot-mode' by pressing the keys '1', '4' and 'online'
  while switching the printer on.
- Unpack the archive containing the firmware
- Open a DOS-Prompt in the diretory where you have unpacked the archive
- Send the firmware to the printer by executing the following command:

	copy /b <firmware> <port>

	description:
	<firmware>	the firmware file, e.g. 070337A.fdf
<port> the port the printer is connected to, e.g. prn, lpt1

- The printer is displaying the process of the update and initializes when
  finished

b) Remote printer I
--------------------
To update a remotely connected printer, the firmware can be uploaded via
internal Web Panel:

- Enter the IP address of the printer in a browser of your choice and
follow the instructions on the screen
- The menu item for flashing firmware is found in the section -->
         1. Printer Actions
         2. Download Firmware

         Remark:
After flashing the firmware the printer tries to keep the IP address
the same. However there are rare occasions the printer must reset all
parameters in the menu memory. Hence if you get no access within 1-2
minutes after download check the printer's menu for a new IPO address

c) Remote printer II
-----------------
To update a remotely connected printer, the firmware has to be uploaded via
FTP:

- Unpack the archive containing the firmware
- Open a DOS-Prompt in the diretory where you have unpacked the archive
- Start the ftp-client by typing 'ftp' and execute the following commands:

	1. open <ip-address> (no login required)
	2. binary
	3. put <firmware>

	description:
	<ip-address>	the ip-address assigned to the print-server
	<firmware>	the firmware file, e.g.. 070337A.fdf

- The printer is displaying the progress of the update and initializes when
  finished
- Quit the ftp-client by typing 'bye'

You may use any ftp-client of your choice, just ensure the tranfer-mode is
set to 'binary'.
This description applies to TallyCom printservers. Depending on the used
printserver the above procedure may vary or don't work at all.

Alternatively you may use tools like PrintFile written by Peter Lerup to
update the firmware on both, local and remote printers. PrintFile can be
found at http://www.lerup.com/printfile/
